Tower Innovations, Inc. was founded in
1999 by Bruce McIntyre who has over 30 years experience
in the wireless industry. Bruce was the Vice President
and General Manager of Highpoint Tower Technology when
their tower assets were sold to Pinnacle Towers. Prior
to that, he was the Vice President and General Manager
of Tower Technology Corp since 1985. While with Tower
Technology and Highpoint Tower Technology, Bruce was
responsible for operations, site acquisition, and site
development. He received his technical training in the
U.S. Air Force as a Communications/Navigation Technician
during the Viet Nam War. After serving 4 years in the
Air Force, including a year in Southeast Asia and 1 ½
years in the USAF 1st Special Operations Wing,
Bruce joined Motorola C&E as a Section Service
Representative. Bruce spent 14 years with Motorola as a
Service Representative, Service Manager and Account
Executive. During that tenure, Bruce was involved in
the design and deployment of several large integrated
systems that provided fixed microwave, land mobile
radio, data and voice. He was also involved in the
deployment of the U.S. Coast Guard VHF marine system and
a large integrated communications system for the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers. Shortly after founding Tower
Innovations, Inc., he was hired by Pinnacle Towers to
build a 1,000 ft broadcast tower in Jacksonville,
Florida. Bruce is probably the only person to ever
convince a homeowners association to support a 1,000’
tower in their back yard.
Towers, Bruce has consulted to numerous companies to
bring his unique knowledge and experience in the tower
and antenna site business to his clients. Among these,
he has designed and implemented master antenna systems
for Richland Towers and has performed site acquisition
work for TerreStar Networks and Hughes Network Services.
He also worked with Qualcomm/ Black and Veatch to deploy
the MediaFlo system and the Hamilton County, IN.
Sheriff's Department to build a new communications site
with a 630' guyed tower.
Bruce was an
active member of NABER ( National Association of
Business and Educational Radio ) and was a founding
member of SOMA ( Site Owners and Managers Alliance ) and
served on their governing council. NABER merged with
Telelocator and became PCIA ( Personal Communications
Industry Association ). In 1996 Bruce became the
Chairman of SOMA and a member of the PCIA Board of
Directors. In 2004 he received the SOMA Hall of Fame
Award from PCIA.
Bruce as always
been an active member of the wireless industry and is a
member and past chapter President of the Armed Forces
Communications & Electronics Association, ( afcea.org
), a Fellow and Vice President of the Radio Club of
America ( radioclubofamerica.org ) , and is
currently on the Editorial Advisory Board of AGL
Magazine( agl-mag.com ). Over the past 17 years,
Bruce has published over 15 articles in various trade
magazines and has been a speaker on numerous panels.
Bruce has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Eckerd
College. Bruce is also a member of the Air Force
Association, the Air Commando Association, the Aircraft
Owners and Pilots Association, the Society of Broadcast
Engineers, AFCCE and APCO.
